Hey, sweetie… Long time no see! We’ve been busy working on something. Remember when in the beginning of the year we said we wanted to start a podcast? Yup, so we did. We’re actually a few months in by now with over 20,000 listens and several major sponsors behind it. The topic? Well, it’s not marketing. We decided to go for another passion of ours – Formula 1. We highly recommend you check out our first interview with the Bulgarian F3 star, Nikola Tsolov:
Anyway, we digress, because today we wanted to show you some cool motorsport ads. There are several brands that participate in F1 currently or will do so very soon, that have some very good ones. And after all, that’s what you’re here for, right? Hop into our car and we’ll show you some one-line campaigns that simply couldn’t say and visualize the intended message any better. Ready? Lights out and away we go!
Mercedes – Emission impossible
This campaign dates back to 2007 when sustainability and electric cars weren’t that big of a topic, when Mercedes was only making engines in F1 and had not been entered as a manufacturer and when Mission Impossible was still cool and relevant. Just kidding, it always will be.
Mercedes – Men & Women
Well that’s not really a one-liner, but rather a two-liner. But who cares when it’s as good as that! Perfect across all dimensions – target, visual, wouldn’t add a word, wouldn’t subtract one.
Electric Has Gone Audi
Back in 2018 Audi announced to be working on delivering 2 all electric and 6 hybrid cars for 2020 with this brilliant campaign. And so they did. Audi’s still not officially part of F1. But is has officially commited to enter in 2026. So, yup, 1 more hybrid car to come from them in a few years time.
The City Is In Your Hands
Same as Audi – Ford are not yet part of F1, but announced officially their entry from 2026 onwards with current champions, Red Bull Racing. But anyway, let’s appreciate the creativity behind announcing their brand new urban model. An outstanding example of a symbiosis between target audience, copy, and visual!
Plan Beer – You Will Have The Drink
Ok, this one isn’t actually a campaign and certainly not an automobile brand. It’s a side project of one of the members on our team and we’re proud of it. If you’re into F1, you would need no explanation to understand the genius behind both the name and the slogan. Here’s a brief explanation of why the name and slogan are so good for those of you who don’t really follow the sport, as described by our colleague behind it:
”The name comes from Ferrari’s trademark strategy calls over team radio, saying to their drivers “We’re thinking Plan B”. So when we started our beer brand for F1 fans, naming it was the easiest part.
As for the slogan – during the race in Hungary 2018, Kimi Raikkonen asked whether his drink was on or not, to which his race engineer replied “You will not have the drink”. Obviously, that would have made for a terrible slogan, so we decided to reverse it. Ain’t that cool, huh?”
Did you enjoy the ads, slogans, and everything else we showed you? Yeah, we thought so. We’ll probably say more on the same topic again very soon.
Until next time, keep it flat out!
