Luckily, we’re all safely through this weird time of the year when all your friends were sharing what they listened to over the past months. Something you neither asked for nor care about. Yet, let’s take a moment to appreciate how brilliant marketing of a strategy this is from Spotify – the only tech company to successfully turn “we’re tracking you“ into “this is actually fun“.
Since this always turns into a hot topic of conversation on social media, many brands to jump on the bandwagon of moment marketing. Today we’re going to show you some social media posts by different brands and people inspired by the Spotify Wrapped hype. And while you check them out, why not listen to our spotify playlist in the meantime.
Ryanair
The Irish low-cost airlines traditionally have a decent social media team and here’s yet another proof for that. They often jump on hot topics that are not directly related to flights, but then they make them be. It’s a carousel so scroll through it. Our favorite one is “12,304 people clapped on planes – This was 15% lower than last year! But this should really be 0…“
Tinder
Well, out of all examples we share, this is probably the least creative. So rather take it as an example of how not to use moment marketing. If you’re going to join in on a topic, then make an actual effort. For example, we would’ve loved to see some numbers similar to the ones in Spotify Wrapped, but presented in a fun way in the context of the platform.
Swiggy
We have to admit, this one made us laugh. Swiggy is an Indian food delivery app. Even though they also wouldn’t exactly be nominated for a Design of the Year award, and the pic’s background doesn’t really speak about a lot of effort going into this post, it’s still creative and attention-grabbing.
Durex
Here’s a great example of incorporating Spotify Wrapped’s idea in a social media post. Personality types are a fairly new feature for Spotify so someone at Durex has clearly taken their time to think about it and get creative. It’s certainly clever and we like it. The idea, that is, you already know about the brand.
What about you – have you stumbled upon any Spotify Wrapped related posts from other brands that you found entertaining? If so, please share with us, we’d love to have a look.
